Gallery stretched canvas differ from the others by the different way the canvas is set on the stretcher: in fact the canvas is set up on the back of the stretcher with staples instead of nails, leaving the side surface absolutely white creating new spaces on the edges where the artist can continue to paint.
The final result is an almost three-dimensional painting. A picture painted on the new gallery stretched canvas seems complete in its purity and simplicity and makes the use of frame unessential.
TECHNICAL DETAILS:
Gallery 20 series and 23 series are set up with universally primed fine grain cotton ref.18569, which is folded and stapled on the back.
Their section is 43x18 mm for the former and 58x21 mm for the latter.
These two series offer a wide range of sizes which include also those narrow and long that most stimulate the creativity of our artists.
Gallery 45 and 60 series show a very particular stretcher section which has met, in the last years, the favour of a large market: the 58x43 mm and 43x58 mm.
All these stretchers are set with canvas ref. 18569, a smooth fine grain cotton, universally primed and suitable for every pictorical technique.
The canvas is fixed on the back of the stretcher by staples, giving the opportunity to the artist to paint also on the edges, obtaining an almost three-dimensional effect.
